The Friends of Claire Foundation began first and foremost out of my love for Claire and her family. Secondly, it stemmed from my frustration over my ignorance about ALS and the anger I felt knowing that there was no cure for this horrific disease.

One night over a glass of wine, while watching Claire's remarkable spirit, love of life and commitment to beat this disease, I knew I had to harvest my frustration and anger towards a more positive approach. That night we vowed to make a difference.

Since that evening, we have organized a wonderfully dedicated committee, and many devoted volunteers. We have initiated an annual dinner/dance; spread a tremendous amount of awareness, continue to make strides to change federal policy, and individually showing our support with our "Claire wear" angel necklaces.
